Vodafone has long been the most affordable of Australia's big three telecommunications providers — the other two of course being Telstra and Optus. Through its ownership by TPG, which in turn has a network sharing agreement with Optus, Vodafone now covers over 98% of the country.

The combination of good coverage and good value makes Vodafone the clear choice in my opinion when you're shopping for a new phone or SIM plan from a major provider.

Vodafone's SIM plans are also more attractive than ever, with discounts on the first year of all three plans, including a 220GB plan for AU$55p/m and a 420GB plan for AU$65p/m.

If you're looking for Vodafone's best phone plans for specific devices, budgets, and data needs, we've highlighted our top picks below.

Vodafone Medium plan | 220GB data | AU$55p/m

Vodafone Medium plan | 220GB data | AU$55p/m(first 12 months, then AU$68p/m)

Vodafone was previously offering longer discounts for a smaller saving in its SIM-only plans, but the company's current discounts are still the best across the big three telcos. While Vodafone's cheapest SIM plan costs AU$45p/m, I'd argue the Medium plan with 20GB data is greater value. On top of the huge data allowance, you also get unlimited international minutes to Zone 1 countries.

Vodafone has slashed AU$650 off the cost of the new Pixel 11, making it the best value deal among Google's new handsets. While its Pro sibling has better cameras and a new HiLight notification LED, the base Google handset for this year also has the same 12GB of RAM and Tensor G6 chipset, making this the better value option.

Apple iPhone 17e (256GB) | 65GB | 24 months | AU$86.62p/m

The iPhone 17e is a shoo-in to be the best cheap iPhone, as it delivers remarkable value, even compared to the higher-spec iPhone 17. It gets the powerful A19 processor, which brings with it smarter camera performance. Vodafone isn't offering any discount on the phone, which is a shame, but you can trade in your device to get some money knocked off.
