While the major headlines from Apple’s September event were understandably on the iPhone Duo foldable, one of the standout announcements for me concerns the AirPods 5.

Apple’s non-Pro series of earbuds are once again available in two flavours, with a few, admittedly useful, features separating the two. Perhaps the biggest shock, however, is that both the AirPods 5 and AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case (that name will eventually become annoying to type out) cost less than the previous AirPods 4 with ANC.

The two-year-old model launched at AU$299. The new AirPods 5 models can be yours for AU$219 and AU$249. Given the fact that Apple has been no stranger to price hikes in recent times, it’s quite remarkable that the popular AirPods got a price cut.

More impressive still, both models introduce notable upgrades over their predecessors. Apple is claiming industry-leading ANC for an open-ear design, alongside a richer, more detailed sound, with support for Personalised Spatial Audio. Apple also claims they’re more durable than before, and you also gain access to Live Translation (previously a Pro-only feature), Adaptive EQ and up to five hours of playtime with ANC on.

The AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case not only get a wireless charging case (shock) but also on-stem volume control. Take it from me as an AirPods Pro 3 user, this feature alone is worth its weight in gold — it’s so intuitive to use!

While the pricing of the AirPods 5 is commendable, I also have to bring your attention to the AirPods Pro 3, which are available for AU$347 at the time of writing at Amazon.

The past few months have been an exciting time for tech journalists and enthusiasts alike, thanks to a barrageflagship phone launches. From Samsung’s Z-series foldables to the Google Pixel 11 lineup and more recently, the new iPhone 18 Pro lineup (and the new iPhone Duo foldable).

Featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, 12GB of RAM, four rear cameras and a new built-in Privacy Display screen, there’s a lot to love with the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, and it can easily hold up for years to come, especially with up to 7 years of Android updates and security support.

I especially loved the Privacy Display screen, which marked a major hardware innovation amid a sea of similar-looking phones in 2026. Super Steady Horizontal Lock for shooting video makes the S26 Ultra great for action shots (and a neat party trick, too!), while the included S Pen stylus remains a nice bonus that most handsets don’t offer.

One great plus of buying the Galaxy S26 Ultra now is the stable release of One UI 9, which is built on Android 17 and features a redesigned quick settings menu, customisable Control Centre, My FanCam and improved multitasking controls.

If you missed out on Labor Day appliance sales, have no fear. Best Buy's very popular appliance sale is still live, and this year's offers are not to be missed. After testing out the GMKtec M6 Ultra, we came to a clear conclusion: This is the best mini PC for most people looking for a compact desktop for the office, home, or dorm room. And right now, you can get the 16GB/1TB configured M6 Ultra for $500 (was $700) at Amazon.

Why we recommend it

In our review, we called this an "affordable mini PC that promises performance for office users, creators, students, and even the mid-level gaming community." And it delivered on all those promises.

Scoring it 4 stars out of a possible 5, we found it "a perfect option" for anyone who wants an exceptionally well-priced mini PC with plenty of upgradeability that can handle nearly anything thrown at it.

We noted during testing that "Having the AMD Radeon integrated GPU really does give it the edge, especially with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, video applications, and gaming." But the USB4 port also means you can couple it with an external GPU if you need more graphics power.

The Ryzen 5 7640HS and Radeon 760M combination is genuinely capable for everyday work, office tasks, 4K video editing, and mid-level gaming; the dual M.2 slots plus dual-channel DDR5 mean you are not locked into whatever configuration you buy today. That upgrade path is unusual at this size and price.

Connectivity is another strength worth calling out. Dual 2.5GbE LAN, USB4 with 100W power delivery, and Wi-Fi 6E are specs you would expect from a much more expensive machine, not a sub-$500 mini PC.

Price Context & Historical Value

One of the aspects we like about the GMKtec M6 Ultra is that it's already well-priced for a mini PC. It offers great value for money, and the discount only adds to the attraction - especially when you consider that both memory and storage can be upgraded.

Saying that, this is generally the deal price we see this configuration drop to, even around big shopping events like Black Friday. Expect it to remain so, particularly as RAM prices continue to push up hardware costs.

You want a compact desktop for office work, content creation, or light gaming without paying full-size PC prices. You can squeeze higher performance if you upgrade the RAM and storage yourself, too, and the connectivity is great, including dual 2.5GbE LAN and USB4, in a small footprint.

❌ Skip the GMKtec NucBox M6 Ultra if...

You need a discrete GPU out of the box for serious gaming or GPU-heavy video editing. The M6 Ultra relies entirely on integrated graphics unless you connect an eGPU via the USB4 port.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

There is no discrete GPU, so this is not the right pick for serious gaming or GPU-accelerated video work, and TechRadar's review notes the design is clean but uninspired, with fan noise becoming noticeable under sustained load. The bigger honesty check here is the discount itself: at $10 off, this is closer to the machine's normal price than a genuine sale, so buy it because it is a strong mini PC at $459.99, not because you are getting a rare bargain.

NAS storage can quickly become very expensive once you start looking at higher-capacity drives designed to run around the clock. But I've found a terrific deal on the 12TB Toshiba N300 Pro NAS hard drive, which is now $430 (was $530) at Newegg.

The 3.5-inch drive includes CMR recording technology, a 7,200 RPM rotational speed, 512MB cache, and a SATA 6Gb/s interface. It's designed specifically for NAS use and comes with a five-year warranty.

Why we recommend it

The 12TB capacity gives you plenty of room for backups, media libraries, business files, surveillance footage, and other data, while also making it possible to build a high-capacity NAS without filling every available drive bay.

Toshiba uses conventional magnetic recording (CMR), which is great for NAS devices because it avoids the write-performance compromises associated with shingled magnetic recording (SMR). The 7,200 RPM speed and 512MB cache makes it a better fit than slower 5,400 RPM NAS drives.

Toshiba's N300 Pro range is intended for enterprise NAS use rather than ordinary desktop storage. The five-year warranty is a big advantage if you're buying a drive that you want to use for a number of years.

Newegg has cut the price of the 12TB Toshiba N300 Pro HDD from $529.99 to $429.99, saving you $100, or almost 19%, which is the cheapest I've seen it there.

At roughly $35.83 per TB, you're paying a premium over general-purpose hard drives, but this is a 7,200 RPM CMR model designed for NAS use and backed by a long warranty.

You need a high-capacity hard drive for a NAS that will be running continuously. Its CMR technology and 7,200 RPM speed, makes it well suited to demanding home, small-business, and enterprise storage setups.

❌ Skip the Toshiba N300 Pro NAS drive if...

You're simply looking for the cheapest way to add a large amount of storage to a desktop PC. A less expensive general-purpose hard drive makes more sense if you don't need a NAS-focused design.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

This is a traditional 3.5-inch mechanical hard drive, so don't expect SSD-like transfer speeds, near-silent operation, or the low power consumption of flash storage. It's primarily about providing a large amount of dependable NAS storage than speed.

You'll also need to consider the total cost if you're building a multi-bay NAS. Buying four of these drives, for example, would cost you around $1,720 at the current price. The usable capacity will be lower if you configure the system with RAID redundancy.

The Anker Prime 200W Charger is one of our favorite fast charging stations - and a neat way to save your desk from clutter. We awarded this 4.5 stars and a TechRadar Recommended badge after testing, praising its "high power output, multiple port types and quality design, all at a fantastic price-point."

And that price point is now even cheaper, with the Anker Prime 6-Port GaN Charging Station dropping to $56 (was $80) at Amazon. Meanwhile, in the UK, Anker's 200W fast charger is down to £55 (was £70).

We absolutely loved using this desktop charger, which provides 200W of total power across six USB ports, with individual USB-C ports capable of delivering up to 100W. That's enough capacity to charge your everyday devices all at the same time.

Why we recommend it

In his four-and-a-half-star review, our expert Harry said: "Charging products really don’t get much better than the Anker Prime Charger (200W, 6 ports, GaN). This charging station boasts high power output, multiple port types and quality design, all at a fantastic price-point."

He added, "There’s no display here, as seen with some of the other Anker Prime products, but otherwise this is a near-perfect station that will fulfil all your charging needs."

He also said, "I’d totally recommend it to anyone looking to take their charging game to the next level."

The biggest advantage is being able to replace several separate chargers with one relatively compact device. Six ports let you keep multiple devices connected at once, while the 200W total output provides considerably more power than a typical multiport phone charger.

Price context & historical value

Amazon has reduced the Anker Prime 200W Charging Station from $79.99 to $55.99, saving you $24, or 30%. This isn't the cheapest I've seen it, as the charger sold for $49.99 last year.

That said, you're paying only $6 more than that previous low, so the current discount still represents excellent value if you're looking for high-powered desktop charger that smashed all our tests in the office.

Your desk is cluttered with separate chargers for your laptop, phone, tablet, and other devices. Being able to power as many as six devices from one unit can simplify your setup and free up wall sockets.

❌ Skip the Anker Prime 200W Charging Station if...

You want something to carry around with you. Anker describes this as a desktop charger rather than a travel model, and its 1.24lb weight makes smaller GaN chargers a better choice.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

The 200W figure is the charger's total available output rather than the amount every connected device can receive simultaneously. How that power is distributed depends on which ports you're using and how many devices are connected.

You get the charger and a five-foot AC power cord, but no USB charging cables are included, so you may need to buy those separately.

Mobile phone contracts can tie you in for a year or longer, but Smarty offers a much more flexible alternative if you want plenty of data without making a long-term commitment. Its £10 monthly SIM plan includes 40GB of 5G and 4G data alongside unlimited UK calls and texts.

You pay monthly in advance and can cancel or change your plan whenever you want, and Smarty promises no credit checks or annual price rises. You can choose between a physical SIM or eSIM, and 5G access is included at no extra cost with a compatible phone and coverage.

Why we recommend it

The combination of 40GB of data and a £10 monthly price should be enough for plenty of everyday browsing, social media, streaming, navigation, and other mobile use without paying for unlimited data you may never need.

There's no speed restriction on the plan, and you can use your entire UK data allowance for tethering or creating a mobile hotspot. That could be particularly useful for connecting a laptop or tablet when you're away from your usual Wi-Fi connection.

EU roaming is included, as is Wi-Fi calling which could come in handy if the mobile signal inside your home or workplace isn't particularly strong.

Price context & historical value

Smarty charges £10 per month for the plan, which gives you 40GB of 5G and 4G data plus unlimited UK calls and texts.

The important difference compared with many mobile deals is that the price isn't dependent on signing a lengthy contract. It's a one-month rolling plan with no annual price rises, and you can cancel or switch plans whenever you want.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

Although the plan includes EU roaming, you can't use the full 40GB allowance while travelling. EU data is subject to a 12GB monthly fair-use limit, while usage outside included European destinations requires an Out of Plan add-on.

Smarty may also suspend your service if it identifies that you've used it outside the UK continuously for 60 days or longer within a rolling 12-month period. It's intended primarily as a UK mobile service rather than a SIM for extended stays overseas.

Elegoo has reduced the Centauri Carbon 2 Combo from $449 to $369, saving you $80, or almost 18%. That's the lowest price I've found for the four-color 3D printer, matching a previous $369 deal from June. It's also on sale in the UK for £329, down from its usual £398.

There's also a discount on the optional Centauri Series Accessory Kit. It's currently $30 instead of $59.99 in the US (£40.79 down from £67.99 in the UK) when purchased as an add-on.

Should you buy it?

✅ Buy the Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 Combo if...

You want to move beyond single-color 3D printing without spending a fortune on a multicolor setup. CANVAS provides four-color printing out of the box, while the enclosed design and high-temperature nozzle give you room to experiment with more demanding materials as your skills develop.

❌ Skip the Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 Combo if...

You primarily produce very large models. Its 256 x 256 x 256mm build volume is ample for many projects, but bigger prints may need to be divided into multiple pieces, so a large-format printer would be a better choice.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

Elegoo quotes a maximum printing speed of 500mm/s, but its recommended speed is 250mm/s. I'd treat the higher figure as the printer's upper limit rather than the speed you'd expect for every model and material.

It's also a large machine. At 500 x 480 x 743mm and 19.35kg, you'll need a sizable, sturdy surface, particularly if you're used to a smaller open-frame printer.

After months of leaks and rumours, Apple has officially unveiled its new Pro iPhones for 2026, alongside the much-anticipated iPhone Duo foldable handset and a slew of other product launches.

If you’re looking to upgrade to the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max or iPhone Duo, I’ve put together this guide on everything you need to know about pre-ordering any of the three handsets in Australia, including when preorders start, how much you’ll pay and all the best deals we’ve found.

As with previous iPhone pre-orders, there’s once again a short wait between the official announcement and the start of the pre-order period, which goes live across all Australian retailers and telcos on Saturday, September 12, at 10pm AEST.

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at AU$2,099 for the base 256GB model, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at AU$2,299. Retailers Amazon, JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys, as well as telcos Vodafone, Optus and Telstra, have confirmed they will all carry the new handsets.

Aside from Apple’s official Australian store, JB Hi-Fi, Vodafone and Optus will also accept trading in your old phone for a credit towards the iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max. Apple is offering up to AU$1,595 in trade-in credit – that’s based on an iPhone 17 Pro Max, while a comparatively ancient iPhone X will net you a AU$70 credit.

If you’re going the trade in route, you can calculate your old phone’s credit value at Optus, Vodafone, Amazon or JB Hi-Fi to get an idea before pre-orders go live.

Apple is also offering a new financing program in Australia via Afterpay, allowing monthly payments over 6-, 12- or 24-month terms instead of the service’s usual four payments spread out fortnightly. If you’re using Afterpay, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at AU$87.46 per month over 24 months, while the 18 Pro Max starts at AU$95.79 per month. This monthly payment option is only available through the Apple Australia website and stores — you won’t find it at third-party stores.

If you’re keen on Apple’s first-ever foldable phone, the shiny new iPhone Duo, the wait will be a little bit longer for pre-orders, which start on Friday, October 16 at 10pm AEST.

Prices begin at a slightly eye-watering AU$3,499 for the base 256GB model (for reference, Samsung’s equivalent Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at AU$2,699), and go as high as AU$5,899 for the 2TB configuration.

Like the 18 Pro and Pro Max above, you can also trade in your old phone to receive up to AU$1,595 off the price. You can get an estimate on your trade-in credit at Optus, Vodafone or JB Hi-Fi to get an idea before pre-orders go live.

What’s new with the 2026 iPhone lineup?

Headlining Apple’s new handset range for 2026 is the iPhone Duo, the company’s first attempt at a foldable and its answer to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. Featuring a 5.4-inch outer display with a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR inner display, the device looks somewhat like a squat iPhone mini when folded, and an iPad mini when opened.

It features the new A20 Pro chipset and a titanium frame, which Apple says is reinforced by ceramic fibres. The Duo, however, also has a few core iPhone features missing, like Face ID, a telephoto camera and the action button, but is still undeniably the star of the show. There are also some exclusive software features that look to take advantage of the larger folding display, like some new Liquid Glass animations and multitasking features. Moreover, the Duo will also get Apple Pencil support, which is a first for any iPhone.

As for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, the biggest upgrades are the main cameras, with each getting a new variable aperture to let users adjust the light depending on what they need to photograph, for example.

They also get the new A20 Pro chip, which Apple claims will have a 20% faster CPU and 40% faster GPU than the A19 Pro found in the iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max and iPhone Air. Battery life is also said to be improved, with Apple claiming the iPhone 18 Pro will have 36 hours of video playback — matching the 17 Pro Max — and the 18 Pro Max now rated for 45 hours.

Big news in the world of iPhones today, as not one, not two, but three new iPhones will soon be available to preorder worldwide. Alongside the expected iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple's lineup will now include the new iPhone Duo, the brand's first-ever foldable device.

If you're looking to upgrade, you'll find everything you need to know laid out in a no-nonsense guide right here. As of writing, we have confirmed pricing, a full picture of specs and features, and the opening deals from both Apple and major US carriers. Details for the UK are more limited, but Apple has confirmed trade-in rebates for unlocked devices.

Apple iPhone 18 Pro preorders will start this Saturday, whereas iPhone Duo preorders will start mid-October. As is usual with iPhone preorders, there's a short wait time between the actual announcement of the devices and the opening of the preorders window. You'll be waiting until this Saturday until you can actually preorder an iPhone 18 or iPhone 18 Pro at both Apple and major carriers.

As always, however, you can navigate to the Apple Store to check out the various options, pricing, and deals that are going to be available ahead of the preorders window. Apple likes to give prospective upgraders some time to mull over their options before committing, which is pretty useful when you're potentially paying over $1,000 for a new phone.

As someone who's covered iPhone launches for a few years, I can tell you that the opening deals are pretty much in line with the usual fare. The main bulk of the deals revolve around trade-in rebates, which are currently listed as up to $1,200 off at major US carriers and up to $885 / £885 off for unlocked devices. The unlocked deal here is a little better than the usual rate we see at Apple, but the carrier deals are roughly what you'd expect.

One thing that's new this year at Apple is a focus on leasing. There's a new Apple Upgrade program that you can investigate if you want to pay a flat monthly rate for a device with a guaranteed upgrade at the end of your lease. Prices start at $34.99/mo for a two-year lease on the iPhone 18 Pro, which adds up to just under $840 in total. That is extremely competitive in my opinion, although there is the obvious caveat that you're not actually the owner of the device.

Note that the leasing program is currently available in the US only, so UK readers will likely have to get a device on a network contract if they want something similar. The major networks haven't updated their websites with exact details yet, so you might have to wait until Saturday to see what you can get.

iPhone 18 Duo preorders: what you need to know

If you've got your eye on the shiny new Apple Duo, you'll have to wait a little bit longer to place your preorder. Apple's first-ever foldable phone will be available to preorder just over a month from now - Friday, 16th of October, to be exact.

As with the iPhone 18 Pro devices, you can already navigate to the official Apple Store page to see all the same details. The device will start at a rather eye-watering $1,999, but you'll have options to trade in or lease if you're looking to cut that price tag down to size.

Apple's own trade-in rebate is capped at $885 for unlocked devices, whereas major carriers are listing their rebates as $1,144, which is curiously lower than those that are available on the 18 Pro Max. These could be provisional rebates to be confirmed at a later date, or the major carriers could be expecting higher demand for the iPhone Duo. They might be thinking that people will bite the bullet and accept a lower rebate for Apple's first-ever foldable.

As with other devices, you can take advantage of Apple's new leasing system with the iPhone Duo if you're inclined. Prices start at $57.99/mo for a 24-month lease, which adds up to just under $1,400 in total. Again, this is an option that could be worth exploring, but it does incentivize you to really lock in long-term so you can get those included upgrades.

What's new with these 2026 iPhones?

The biggest news, of course, is the iPhone Duo. Apple's first-ever foldable iPhone combines a 5.4-inch outer display with a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR inner screen for an intriguing 'passport-like' design. We can't wait to get our hands on it here at TechRadar, as it looks like Apple has added a ton of software features designed to take advantage of the larger folding display

For the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, the biggest camera upgrade is a variable aperture on the 48MP main camera. This allows users to open the aperture wider for more light in low-light photography, or close it down to increase depth of field and capture more detail. Both models are powered by the A20 Pro, which delivers a claimed 20% faster CPU and 40% faster GPU than its predecessor. Battery life has also improved, with the iPhone 18 Pro offering up to 36 hours of video playback, matching last year's 17 Pro Max, while the 18 Pro Max reaches up to 45 hours.

The Duo also features the same A20 Pro chipset and camera array (minus the telephoto) as the Pro-level devices here, so it should be a very, very quick device indeed. Over the next few weeks, we'll post our full review of all these devices, so stay tuned.

Battery life is the trade-off. Gaming laptops in this class typically last 6 to 7 hours under normal use, so this isn't the laptop for students who need all-day battery life without access to an outlet between classes.

Modern laptops might've tried to kill off the built-in optical drive, but physical media is far from dead. Case in point: the Dell DW316 Slim external USB DVD-RW drive for $39 at Amazon.

Physical media is making a serious comeback (my hardware editor, with his massive library of films, games, and books, argues that it never went away). In fact, this Dell USB writer proved essential when I wanted to watch my wedding video from 20 years ago, which was locked on DVD.

If you need to rip CDs and DVDs, access archived files, or just kick back and watch a movie, the USB-powered Dell DW316 is an easy recommendation from me. In the UK, the Dell DW316 is £37 (was £50) for an imported drive, or £47 for one sent from the UK.

Why we recommend it

I put the Dell DW316 to good use myself this year when my wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. As I mentioned, our wedding video is still on DVD and this gave us an easy way to watch it again.

Beyond digital nostalgia, it's a really practical upgrade to access older software, music, movies and other physical media that would otherwise be left gathering dust.

And unlike files stored on a computer, in the cloud or on a storage device, data burned to a write-once disc can't be accidentally deleted, overwritten or changed, giving you a permanent physical copy. Write-once media can create a physical copy of important documents, photos or other files that can be kept offline and separate from your computer.

This drive has never been priced above $52 (at least, not since 2015), while its lowest price was $16 back in 2020. General trends show it more or less holds its price at around the $35 to $40 mark. For comparison, Dell's external disc drive is also available at the same price, $40 (was $50) at Best Buy.

Should you buy it?

✅ Buy the Dell DW316 if...

You occasionally need to access old CDs, DVDs or disc-based software, or want an inexpensive way to create physical copies of important files. The drive's small size means you can keep it tucked away until you actually need it.

❌ Skip the Dell DW316 if...

You need Blu-ray support or regularly work with large amounts of data. DVDs have limited capacity compared with modern storage devices, and this drive can't read or write Blu-rays.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

The DW316 connects over USB and is an older optical-drive design, so don't expect the transfer speeds you'd get from an external SSD or flash drive. Its purpose is accessing and creating optical media rather than moving large files quickly.

You'll also need compatible blank writable discs if you intend to use it for backups or archiving, adding a small additional cost on top of the $35 price.

The 2026 Apple September Event is today, and rumors suggest the tech giant will introduce its newest smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 12.

While we can't comment on what new features the smartwatch will offer, we can recommend the excellent Garmin Venu 3, which I've spotted on sale for a record-low of $288 (originally $449.99) at Amazon. That's a whopping $161 discount and an incredible price for a smartwatch that's packed with health and fitness features.

The Garmin Venu 3 earned four and a half stars in our review, and we said it was a 'near-perfect balance of smartwatch and health tracker'.

Great for outdoor and fitness enthusiasts, the Venu 3 offers advanced GPS tracking, a water-resistant design, a dedicated LED flashlight, and up to 14 days of battery life. The smartwatch also tracks heart rate, respiration, blood oxygen saturation, sleep, and stress levels, and includes a speaker and microphone so you can take calls from your wrist.

While the newest Apple Watch will undoubtedly be packed with new technology and health insights, most people won't need these features, and it will likely start at $399.99 based on its predecessor. The Garmin Venu 3 is down to just $288, making it a fantastic smartwatch, especially for runners, cyclists, hikers, and swimmers.

Looking for the perfect compact everyday shooter for travel or street photography? The brand-new OM System PEN could be a fantastic option for you. Preorders are now open for this affordable new rangefinder-style camera ahead of an October 1st release date, and several retailers have already updated their sites with listings.

Probably the best option for preorder today is over at Adorama, where you can get yourself a free wrist strap alongside both the body-only and kit-lens options. The strap in question is a black Clever Supply Skinny Wrist Strap worth $54, so it's definitely a nice little freebie that should complement your new camera nicely.

If you're in the UK (or USA but would prefer to order a camera elsewhere), I've attached a roundup of other options below. Major retailers like B&H Photo, Wex Video Photo, and Park Cameras are all stocking the camera today, so there should (hopefully) be plenty of stock available for early adopters.

Note that the OM System Pen starts at $999.99 / £849 for the body, with additional kit lens options. The lens kit, meanwhile, with the new M.Zuiko 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 III, is just an additional $100 / £100, which could be a better value option if you're new to the system, and looks like a particularly good option for travel photography. Not only is this kit a bargain, but the lens is also weather-sealed (unlike previous iterations).

Where to buy the OM System PEN

What's new with the PEN?

Much of the PEN's spec sheet will seem familiar to fans of the brand. As with most releases from OM System, the PEN is essentially re-using a lot of pre-existing tech in a new body at a lower price. However, its combination of a retro compact body, built-in viewfinder, image stabilization, weather resistance and accessible price makes it an attractive entry-level mirrorless camera, particularly for smartphone users.

Unlike the previous Olympus EP-7, the PEN now features a 2.36-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder as well as IPX1-rated dust-and-splash resistance. Internally, you're still getting the familiar 20.4MP Micro Four Thirds sensor with 5-axis image stabilisation rated to 5.5EV, but the 121-point phase-detection autofocus with subject detection is a key upgrade.

Other upgrades include OM System's latest computational photography features, namely Live ND, new color profiles, and two Cinema picture modes aimed at 4K video. Like the higher-end OM-3, the PEN is designed from the ground up for JPEG customization thanks to a new color/monochrome switch which provides quick access to film-inspired looks.

Finally, it's worth mentioning that the PEN debuts a new BLS-7 battery, rated for an impressive 410 shots per charge, as well as support for USB-C charging - another massive boon for travel photography.

Is the PEN worth preordering?

We haven't fully reviewed the OM System PEN yet, but my initial impression of the camera is positive. It's 'nothing new', so to speak, but the rock-bottom price that the brand is aiming for has the potential to make this one a crowd favorite.

For one, I don't think any other brand is offering a package quite like this for $1,000. With inflation and various tariffs, we've become accustomed to spiralling costs, so it's refreshing to see a brand-new camera with a viewfinder, weather sealing, and a stylish design for this price.

Perhaps the closest competitor to the OM System PEN is the Fujifilm X-M5 - one of our favorite entry-level cameras here at TechRadar. Both cameras share a stunning rangefinder-style design and enticing price point, but the PEN looks like the better choice for photographers, in my opinion. The X-M5 has far superior video specs, but it lacks image stabilization, a viewfinder, and weather sealing.

With such features, the PEN looks like a very, very compelling budget option compared to the likes of the Fujifilm X-E5. That's another one of our favorite rangefinder-style bodies, but it comes in at an eye-watering $1,799 / £1,399 for the body-only. In comparison, the PEN is a more entry-level body, but it's definitely a good option if you're happy with 20MP.

Proton's Unlimited plan has dropped $120, making now the cheapest time to ditch Google entirely, should you wish.

The plan includes everything you'd expect from Google's privacy-unfriendly suite: Docs, Drive, Calendar, Mail, Sheets, and so on. But, it also throws in extras such as Proton VPN, one of the best VPNs available, and Proton Pass, a premium password manager which includes the super-handy email aliasing feature.

Normally, the Proton Unlimited bundle costs $12.99 per month over two years, billed as $311.76.

This deal brings a 38% discount, making it $7.99/month. That saves $120, bringing the total 2-year cost to $191.76.

Unlike Google's suite, all of Proton's tools are end-to-end encrypted and ad-free. This means whatever you send, upload, or create is protected from snoopers looking to intercept your information to use maliciously or sell online.

This is the lowest Proton Unlimited price we've seen in 2026 but we don't know how long it'll last. So, if you're interested, sign up now to lock in the deal, and you can always make use of Proton's 30-day money-back guarantee if you change your mind.

While ditching Google entirely might seem scary, Proton is taking steps to make it as simple as possible.

Its 'Easy Switch' tool sits at the heart of this. It allows you to sign into your old email account, from which Proton automatically pulls information such as your emails, contacts, and calendar.

Files aren't quite so slick but Proton has guides for transferring from services such as Google Drive, OneDrive and more to help you get started.

I've used Proton's privacy suite for nearly two years now. Since the addition of Meet and Sheets (alongside Calendar, Docs, Drive, Mail, Pass and Wallet) it now feels more like Google Workspace than ever, and it's all far more secure.

All of the tools included can be signed up for separately. Most are pricey on their own but the Unlimited bundle makes it really good value.

DDR5 might be the memory standard for newer PCs, but it costs far more than DDR4, especially when you're shopping for faster or higher-capacity kits.

If you're upgrading a DDR4 system, I've found a terrific deal on the G.Skill 32GB Trident Z RGB for $215 (was $258) at Newegg when you use code LUYRF222.

For your money, you get two 16GB DDR4-3600 modules with CL18 timings, aluminum heat spreaders, customizable RGB lighting and Intel XMP 2.0 support.

Why we recommend it

32GB is enough memory for demanding multitasking, gaming and creative applications. The DDR4-3600 speed is also a good fit for compatible DDR4 systems, particularly if you're upgrading an older machine that's currently running slower or lower-capacity memory.

The two matched 16GB modules provide a dual-channel configuration, with timings of 18-22-22-42 at 1.35V.

G.Skill's Trident Z design adds aluminum heat spreaders and customizable RGB lighting, making this a good choice if your PC has a windowed case and you want your memory to complement other RGB components.

Price context & historical value

Newegg sells the 32GB Skill Trident Z RGB kit for $257.49, and it's currently available for $249.99. Using coupon code LUYRF222 brings the final price down to $214.99.

While that's a decent price in today's inflated memory market, it's worth remembering just how much cheaper DDR4 used to be. Newegg sold this exact G.Skill kit for just $69.99 in August 2023, less than a third of its current discounted price.

Unfortunately, it's unlikely to drop down to that level again, so the current deal is worth considering if you need to upgrade your DDR4 system now.

Should you buy it?

✅ Buy the 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB kit if...

You have a compatible DDR4 desktop and want to increase its memory capacity without replacing your motherboard and processor to move to DDR5. The combination of 32GB capacity and DDR4-3600 speed makes it a solid upgrade for an older system.

❌ Skip the 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB kit if...

You're building a completely new PC around a recent processor and motherboard. In that situation, I'd seriously consider DDR5 instead, as you'll be investing in the newer memory standard rather than spending more than $200 on DDR4 that you won't be able to carry over to a future platform.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

You'll need to enable XMP, DOCP or A-XMP in your BIOS to reach the kit's advertised DDR4-3600 speed on compatible hardware. Otherwise, the memory will initially run at its default SPD speed.

Compatibility is also important. G.Skill recommends checking its motherboard QVL, and it specifically warns against mixing separate memory kits, even when their specifications appear identical, as doing so can cause stability problems.

This is easily one of the best-value SIM deals I've seen right now - and it's a steal for data-guzzlers, regular travellers, and anyone who hates being locked into a monthly contract.

At £15 a month, rather than £35, you get EE's reliable network speeds with absolutely no contract to sign, so you can cancel any time.

The generous 25GB data roaming for Europe is ideal for frequent travellers (whether that's for work or pleasure). And it's more than enough data allowance for streaming, video calls, map navigation, and checking messages and emails when public or hotel Wi-Fi is slow.

I haven't seen a similar cost with similar benefits from EE either on Amazon or direct from the network provider.

Price context & historical value

No two ways about it, £15 a month for unlimited data, calls, and text is an excellent price. For comparison, an Unlimited Rolling SIM plan without the 25GB European data roaming is priced at £25 a month at Amazon. Buying a monthly contract unlimited SIM with no free roaming data direct from EE is currently £23 a month.

As it's part of the EE network, make sure you get the service in your area. You can use EE's coverage checker here.

It's also worth pointing out that Scancom is also technically a B2B site, and you'll use the company for support, rather than EE's in-house team.

That doesn't mean you need to be a business to buy and use the SIM, and we've seen reports online that the company won't check for business credentials anyway. But that's its main purpose is for professionals.

If you’re truly serious about coffee in Australia and looking to introduce a coffee maker into your kitchen, then Breville is a brand you’re likely to consider.

It’s easy to see why — not only is Breville a regular feature in my guide to the best coffee machines in Australia, but it also makes reliable, easy-to-master machines that, most importantly, brew a great cuppa.

The Barista Express is one such machine, and while it is a few years old now, it’s still an easy recommendation, especially now that it’s available for AU$595 on Amazon.

The Breville Barista Express has all the necessities of a great coffee machine: an integrated grinder, adjustable settings — grind size, dosage and water volume — and a powerful steam wand for texturising milk, whether it’s dairy or non-dairy. There’s no assisted tamping as you’ll find in the Barista Express Impress, for example, but a manual tamper is provided, along with single-wall and double-wall baskets, along with a razor tool for levelling ground coffee in the portafilter.

However, while Breville might provide all the tools you need for a great coffee, our Breville Barista Express review does admit that it can take a bit of time to find the best settings for the beans you use and for your personal preference. This does mean you’ll need to sacrifice a few espresso shots, but the results are more than worth it.

What’s more, the Barista Express is a relatively compact coffee machine that should cause little issue in even smaller kitchens, and it’s eligible for Breville’s free Barista Gift Pack promotion, which includes a 1kg bag of coffee beans and a Bean Keeper canister to keep them fresher for longer.

The AU$595 price on Amazon only applies to the Charcoal model, while other colours cost at least AU$100 more. Do note that Amazon has a list price of AU$999, which was the case when the machine launched in 2022, but Breville has since revised it to AU$719.

Nintendo just gave us a closer look at the upcoming Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in a special presentation to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the series, and at the same time, confirmed the release date.

The big news for collectors, though, is that the first run of the physical edition will feature special textured foil packaging, so here's where you can secure your sparkly copy with a preorder ahead of release on November 5.

The official store opened up preorders first in all regions, and now several other retailers also have them available. Incredibly, physical copies are starting to sell out in some places, so I'm keeping an eye on other stores now and will add them as soon as I spot any more availability.

And while it's extremely unlikely that it will completely sell out ahead of launch, given that the special cover is limited to this initial print run, it's best to be safe if you want to add a copy to your collection.

Ugreen's four-bay DH4300 Plus NAS device impressed us during our tests, from its elegant design to the beginner-friendly setup, ideal for creating your own private cloud in the home and small business. And right now, the Ugreen NAS DH4300 Plus has dropped to $374 (was $440) at Amazon.

It is aimed at home users, remote workers and NAS beginners, with four drive bays, 8GB of LPDDR4X memory, 2.5GbE networking, 4K HDMI output and support for up to 128TB of storage.

The DH4300 Plus can automatically back up photos and videos, organize images using AI-powered albums and act as a private cloud that you can access remotely from multiple devices.

Why we recommend it

In his 4-star review, our expert Mark called the DH4300 Plus "great for homes and small businesses" and said it offered "an elegant design that delivers the basic functionality that most NAS users need at a price they can afford."

The four drive bays give you plenty of flexibility over how much storage you add, while RAID support lets you choose between maximizing capacity or adding redundancy.

Ugreen has done its best to make the software approachable for people buying their first NAS. Its apps support Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and web browsers, with remote access and automatic mobile photo backups.

He summed it up saying: "This NAS is designed to fit a specific niche: single or dual-purpose installations that require power efficiency and easy interfacing with other NAS hardware for backups. And, this NAS is perfectly poised to do those jobs without the need for the more exotic functionality that the DXP series already supports."

Price context & historical value

Amazon has cut the price of the Ugreen NAS DH4300 Plus from $439.99 to $373.98, giving you a saving of $66.01, or 15%. While this is a good reduction, it's not the cheapest the NAS has been. We saw it selling for between $305-$310 a little earlier in the year.

It's also worth noting the current price is for the diskless enclosure, so you'll still need to budget for compatible hard drives or SSDs. The total cost will depend on how much capacity you want.

Should you buy it?

✅ Buy the Ugreen NAS DH4300 Plus if...

You want to move away from recurring cloud-storage subscriptions and keep your photos, videos and documents under your own control. Four drive bays give you plenty of room to expand, and the relatively simple setup and mobile apps make this a more approachable option for NAS newcomers.

❌ Skip the Ugreen NAS DH4300 Plus if...

You need a more advanced NAS for running virtual machines or heavier server workloads. The DH4300 Plus supports Docker, but Ugreen specifically states that it doesn't support virtual machines, so a more powerful NAS will likely be a better fit for advanced users.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

No storage drives are included, despite the advertised maximum capacity, so the listed price is only the starting point. The maximum storage amount is based on compatible drives configured in RAID 0, which prioritizes capacity rather than redundancy.

There's also no Wi-Fi, so you'll need to connect the NAS to your router or network switch using Ethernet. Plex can be run through Docker, but the DH4300 Plus doesn't provide native virtual-machine support.

One of the absolute highlights of this week's Labor Day sales has been the excellent Sony WH-1000XM5 on sale for just $198 (was $399) at Amazon. It's been a while since these wireless headphones have hit this record-low price — and, quite frankly, it's one of the easiest recommendations we've made this week.

They only hit $198 once before, back in late June, so this is a great chance to grab some of the best headphones on the market for cheap.

As an overview, the Sony WH-1000XM5 combines a stylish and comfortable design with some of the best noise cancellation on the market. They're perfect for everyday use, a busy office, or commuting on public transport. They also sound fantastic, with rich and detailed sound for all types of genres.

With today's price on Amazon, you're getting them for a fantastic price, considering these are only one generation away from the latest Sony model. The Sony WH-1000XM6 has superseded the Mark 5, but they're currently sitting at $398 at the retailer, while offering similar performance.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 are a few years old now, but our initial five-star rating from when these headphones were released still stands. At the time, we called them "the best headphones in the world thanks to their class-leading noise-canceling features and well-balanced audio.” There is a newer version now (the Mark 6), but those are significantly more expensive, as I've already stated.

Compared with the sixth-generation model, the fifth-generation model is a little less portable because it lacks folding hinges, but otherwise performance is quite similar. If you're not desperate for the folding mechanism, then it's definitely a good idea to save some cash and go with the Sony WH-1000XM5 over the newer model.

This has to be one of the best laptop deals I've spotted on a 16-inch machine with a high-resolution display and plenty of memory. As part of its back-to-school sale, the Asus Vivobook S 16 is now $1300 (was $1600) at Newegg.

And this one is packed with awesome specs. On top of the 16-inch 2880 x 1800 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, it has an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor, 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.

The deal also includes Intel's Gamer Days Bundle 2026 with two upcoming games valued at $119.98, plus an Intel AI Software Bundle worth more than $400.

Why we recommend it

The 3K OLED screen is well suited to creative work, combining a high resolution with 100% DCI-P3 coverage for working with photos, video and other visual content. The 120Hz refresh rate also provides smoother movement and scrolling than a conventional 60Hz laptop display.

There's enough processing power and memory capacity here for demanding productivity and multitasking, and the integrated Intel Arc graphics provide some welcome graphics capability.

The laptop also includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports supporting displays, power delivery and data transfers up to 40Gbps, plus two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1 and a microSD card reader. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are both supported.

Newegg has slashed the price of the Asus Vivobook S 16 from $1,599.99 to $1,299.99, saving you $300, or almost 19%. It has been considerably cheaper in the past, however, dropping as low as $1,100 earlier this year, so this isn't the best price we've seen.

That said, it currently comes with Intel's Gamer Days Bundle 2026, which means you'll get Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis games worth a combined $119.98 for free. You also get Intel's AI Software Bundle 2026 which includes more than $400 worth of software.

Should you buy it?

✅ Buy the Asus Vivobook S 16 if...

You want a large-screen laptop for creative work, productivity and heavy multitasking without stepping up to a bulkier workstation. The hardware on offer makes it particularly well equipped for demanding everyday tasks.

❌ Skip the Asus Vivobook S 16 if...

You primarily want a laptop for serious gaming or GPU-intensive 3D work. Intel Arc integrated graphics are considerably more capable than basic integrated graphics, but there's no discrete GPU, so a laptop with dedicated Nvidia or AMD graphics would be a better choice.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

The 16-inch OLED panel has plenty going for it, but it's a glossy non-touch display, which might not be ideal if you tend to work in bright environments. Its 400-nit peak HDR brightness is also relatively modest compared with other premium OLED laptops.

The bundled games aren't available immediately, either. Star Wars: Galactic Racer will be released on October 6, 2026, and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is set to arrive on February 12, 2027. You'll need to redeem the Gamer Days offer by October 31, 2026.

You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on a printer for occasional home or home office use. I've picked out three Amazon inkjet printer deals that bring capable all-in-one models comfortably below $100. All three can print, scan and copy in color, with wireless connectivity for printing from your computer or mobile devices.

My top recommendation here is the Canon Pixma TS6520 is down to $81 (was $141 thanks to the quickest print speeds of the three, and the inclusion of automatic two-sided printing.

A good alternative is the HP Envy 6155 costs $90 (was $160). However, for the cheapest printer, check out the HP DeskJet 2955 at just $60 (was $90), making it the ideal price for back-to-school students and casual home printing.

Today's top inkjet printer deals under $100

Why we recommend them

All three cover the essentials for a home office without taking you over $100. The $59.99 HP DeskJet 2955 is the obvious budget choice if your printing requirements are fairly basic.

Spending another $20.49 on the Canon Pixma model gets you considerably faster print speeds, automatic duplex printing and a small OLED display. It's a great middle-ground, with more features and quickest print speeds.

At $89.99, the HP Envy 6155 costs the most of the three, but it adds a larger 100-sheet input tray and 2.4-inch color touchscreen alongside automatic two-sided printing, which is better for a home office setup.

Both HP models also include a three-month trial of Instant Ink.

The largest saving is on the HP Envy 6155, which has fallen from $159.99 to $89.99, knocking $70 off the price. The HP DeskJet 2955 drops from $89.99 to $59.99, saving you $30. Both HP printers are the cheapest we've seen them to date on Amazon.

The Canon Pixma TS6520 has been reduced from $140.99 to $80.48, saving you $60.51. This isn't the cheapest it's ever been as it was priced at $59.25 earlier this year.

Should you buy it?

✅ Buy one of these printers if...

You need an inexpensive all-in-one for relatively light home or home office duties. All three handle printing, scanning and copying without requiring much desk space. Wireless connectivity means you aren't restricted to printing from a computer connected by USB.

❌ Skip one of these printers if...

You regularly print dozens or hundreds of pages at a time. These are home inkjet printers designed for relatively modest workloads, so a faster printer with a larger paper capacity and lower running costs would make more sense for a busy office. I would personally consider buying an ink tank printer instead.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

Ink costs are worth considering before choosing any inexpensive inkjet printer, as the purchase price is only part of the long-term expense. The two HP printers include three months of Instant Ink, but you'll be charged a monthly subscription fee if you continue the service after the trial.

The HP models are also designed to work with cartridges containing original HP chips or circuitry, which limits your options for using cheaper third-party cartridges. If automatic two-sided printing is important, bear in mind that it's offered by the Envy 6155 and Canon Pixma TS6520 but isn't listed among the DeskJet 2955's features.

Large-format 3D printers give you far more freedom over what you can create, and the higher build volume make them ideal for small businesses and online crafting stores. So, this 3D printer deal caught my eye, with the Anycubic Kobra 3 Max V2 Combo now down to $569 (was $899) at Anycubic, saving you a massive $330.

The package combines the large-format Kobra 3 Max V2 3D printer with the ACE 2 Pro, that delivers a huge 420 x 420 x 500mm build volume alongside four-color printing as standard and support for up to eight colors with additional hardware.

It can print at speeds up to 600mm/s, and includes features like automatic bed leveling, filament detection and AI spaghetti detection to make even more ambitious prints easier to manage. In the UK, the early bird price for the Kobra 3 Max V2 Combo is now £519 (was £849).

Why we recommend it

At 420 x 420 x 500mm, the Kobra 3 Max V2 Combo offers enough room for large models that would typically need to be divided into multiple sections on a smaller printer. You also have the option of filling the bed with a number of smaller objects.

The included ACE 2 Pro adds multicolor printing and can actively dry filament at temperatures up to 65°C. Four-color printing is supported out of the box, with the system expandable to eight colors if you buy the necessary additional hardware.

LeviQ 3.0 handles automatic leveling and Z-offset adjustment, while filament detection, automatic resume, entanglement detection and AI spaghetti detection can stop failed prints from wasting large amounts of filament.

✅ Buy the Anycubic Kobra 3 Max V2 Combo if...

You want to create large models or multicolor prints that would be awkward on a conventional 3D printer. Its 420 x 420 x 500mm build volume gives you considerably more room to work with, while the included ACE 2 Pro provides four-color printing.

❌ Skip the Anycubic Kobra 3 Max V2 Combo if...

You mostly print relatively small, single-color objects. The huge build area and ACE 2 Pro are key parts of the appeal here, so buying such a large machine makes little sense if you aren't going to take advantage of either.

The Catch: What to know before you buy

You'll need plenty of physical space as the Kobra 3 Max V2 itself measures 706 x 640 x 753mm (27.8 x 25.2 x 29.6 inches) and weighs around 18kg (39.7 pounds), while the separate ACE 2 Pro measures 368 x 291.5 x 236.5mm (14.5 x 11.5 x 9.3 inches) and weighs another 3.7kg (8.2 pounds).

Eight-color printing also isn't available from the standard Combo alone. It supports four colors out of the box, but expanding to eight requires additional hardware. The 3D printer that can handle that would usually set you back $1,228, but it's currently priced at $788.

Buying a gaming laptop in 2026 can be a bit of a nightmare, thanks to the global memory shortage that has sent prices sky-high. Gaming laptops have been hit particularly hard, and that's made trying to find one for a sensible price that still offers enough power to play modern games increasingly difficult... but not impossible.

While super-high-end gaming laptops featuring flagship GPUs like the Nvidia RTX 5090 have become extremely expensive, and therefore out of reach for most people, gaming laptops with Nvidia's budget RTX 5050 GPU have remained far more affordable, especially around events like Labor Day, which can bring some decent price cuts.

In fact, if you're looking for a gaming laptop for under $1,000, it'll very likely come with an RTX 5050. However, before you buy, there are some important considerations you need to be aware of.

The pros and cons of buying an RTX 5050 gaming laptop

The most important thing to do when buying a gaming laptop with a GPU like the RTX 5050 is to keep your expectations in check.

The Nvidia RTX 5050 laptop GPU comes with 8GB of GDDR7 memory and a 128-bit memory bus. This is the absolute minimum I'd recommend in 2026, and it does mean you'll need to make some compromises when gaming.

Because of the limited amount of memory, ultra-high definition resolutions of 4K (3840 x 2160) and even 1440p (2560 x 1440) will be too taxing, but Full HD/1080p (1920 x 1080) will be the sweet spot. So, there's little point in getting an RTX 5050-equipped gaming laptop with a screen with a higher resolution than 1080p, as more often than not, you'd be paying extra for a resolution you can't take advantage of when gaming (non-gaming tasks, such as browsing the web and creating documents will benefit from the higher resolution, of course).

The good news is that this shouldn't be much of an issue, as it'll be rare to find an RTX 5050 gaming laptop with a screen that's higher resolution than 1080p, as it's a good way for laptop makers to keep costs down.

Still, even at 1080p, you're likely going to need to lower certain graphical settings, and stuff like ray tracing will be completely out of the question, due to how intensive the realistic lighting tech is.

This might sound all very negative, and if you're looking for a laptop to play graphically-demanding games at 4K at 60fps frame rates or higher, an RTX 5050 laptop is not going to be right for you.

However, one of the best things about PC gaming is its scalability, and if you don't mind tweaking certain settings, you'll be able to eke out some decent performance from the laptop. That might be as simple as setting all graphics settings to 'medium', lowering the resolution or capping framerates at 30fps. With a bit of patience, you should find a good balance where the game runs well, and doesn't look bad either.

For games that aren't graphically intensive, such as indie games, retro titles or esports games, this is less of an issue, and most people should be pretty happy with an RTX 5050.

In benchmark and real-world tests, the RTX 5050 offers a similar level of performance as the older RTX 4060 GPU. This is noteworthy, as for a long time the RTX 4060 was one of, if not the, most popular GPUs on the Steam Hardware survey, and for good reason: it allowed gamers who couldn't afford high-end hardware to be still able to play modern games, and the RTX 5050 continues that.

As the RTX 5050 is part of Nvidia's current 'Blackwell' series of GPUs, it also means that, despite its budget origins, it can make use of Nvidia's latest tech, such as DLSS 4, which uses AI to upscale games, which can bring big performance benefits, especially for entry-level GPUs like the RTX 5050.

On paper, it should also be able to support Multi Frame Generation (MFG), which uses AI generate and insert frames inbetween frames rendered by the GPU, potentially increasing frame rates and making games feel smoother and more responsive to play. However, the 8GB memory limit of the RTX 5050 means MFG (which is memory-intensive) can struggle.

Still, you have plenty of tools to make any RTX 5050 gaming laptop punch above its weight, and as long as you keep your expectations in check and don't mind a bit of playing around with graphical settings, you should be pretty happy with your purchase.

That's especially true this Labor Day, as I've found several RTX 5050 gaming laptop deals that offer excellent value for money for any PC gamer who can't, or won't, pay the hugely inflated prices that have plagued 2026 so far. I've highlighted the best ones below.

The annual Labor Day sales are traditionally more associated with grills than with price cuts on the latest cameras, but between you and me, it's often a great time to consider upgrading. I've been scanning through the retail events today, and I've found some great deals on models like the Canon EOS R5 Mark II, the Nikon Z5 II, and the Sony A7R V — all of which are highly rated here at TechRadar. As TechRadar's homes editor, I test a lot of coffee makers — over a dozen each year — and I'm always surprised by how many automatic espresso machines struggle with the essential task of foaming milk. That's not the case with the Philips LatteGo series, though, and I'm delighted to see one of the best models in a range, the Philips LatteGo 2300, is available for just $499.99 on Amazon for Labor Day (was $699.99).

The LatteGo system is extremely clever and easy to keep clean as well. The milk never enters the body of the machine, so there are no lines or pipes that can gather milk residue and bacteria.

Instead, you pour the milk into a carafe attached to the front of the machine, with measuring lines that mean you only need to add enough for the drink you're currently brewing — which means no waste and no need to store an open container of milk in the fridge.

Your milk will be foamed to perfection and poured directly into your cup, then when you've finished making your drink, the carafe detaches and disassembles into just three pieces of hard plastic. All of these are safe to wash in the top rack of your dishwasher.

Naturally, all coffee makers in the Philips LatteGo series make excellent espresso as well, handling all the complex parts of brewing for you, so you can just add beans and water, pick a drink, and start enjoying it within a couple of minutes.

This particular model has a relatively small menu of four different drinks, but in my opinion that's no bad thing — some other coffee makers can overwhelm you with choices, whereas the 2300 Series focuses on doing the essentials well. You can still customize your drinks, choosing the volume and strength, but you won't need to spend ages scrolling through endless options.

If you've been thinking about picking up one of Samsung's recent TVs, then you could be in serious luck this week thanks to the official Samsung Store's Labor Day sale. The retailer is currently hosting a number of record-low prices on Samsung's latest 2026 lineup.

As with most brands, Samsung releases its annual crop of TVs earlier in the year, and you usually have to wait a while for serious price cuts to appear. We've had minor discounts up until now, but these are arguably the first real deals on these premium displays. You can currently get up to $1,100 off premium models like the S90H, S95H, and R85H — some of the best TVs you can buy right now.

One example is this deal on the stunning 75-inch R85H for $1,999 (was $2,799) at Samsung today. This is the brand's latest Micro RGB flagship, and it combines microscopic red, green, and blue LEDs to generate incredibly lifelike and vivid images. We've recommended this particular display for sports and gaming before, but anyone will appreciate its superb image quality.
